Our Label

The design of the label was a family decision, we hoped to reflect where the wine is grown and also promote Yorke Peninsula at the same time. Yorke Peninsula's has a unique shape and is very recognizable.

The name 'Barley Stacks' comes from the fact that the vineyard is planted adjacent to the old 'Urania Barley Stacks', which was active up until 1967.

The picture on the back of our wine label shows Toni's Father unloading his truck of bagged grain into the 'Urania Barley Stacks' in the mid 1950's. This grain would stay at the Barley Stacks awaiting transport to overseas markets. Yorke Peninsula had a reputation as growing the best malting Barley in Australia, and is much sought after by the molesters, particularly in Germany, for making beer.

We also felt that because the Yorke Peninsula had this reputation for the best barley growing, that the same conditions that create that would also create our wonderful wine.

Since the 2005 vintage when we started with a new winemaker, we also used our two daughters names on the Shiraz 'Letitia' and Cabernet Sauvignon 'Ketrice'.

THE NAME 'BARLEY STACKS' is TRADE MARKED IN AUSTRALIA.
